In 1886, DMC published “The Complete Encyclopaedia of Needlework” by the Austrian Theresa von Dillmont, which was translated into 17 languages and published in more than two million copies.
The Dollfuses also illustrated themselves in the sciences with the creation in 1842 of the “Société Industrielle de Mulhouse” and did a great amount of charity work.
In the 20th century, the DMC completed its portfolio of activities with the acquisition of textile companies complementing its original businesses, and then when faced with the European textiles crisis, it began to refocus on the two areas where it had leadership: crafts and sportswear fabrics.
In April 1995, DMC SA opens the first Loisirs & Création shop in Lille. Twelve years later, Loisirs & Création has 21 shopes and represents 16.2 % of the group's turnover.
Between 1999 and 2002, after the sale of its printing and the industrial thread activities, the group refocused on two core business: craft with the DMC Creative World division and the Loisirs & Création chain, and the Sportswear division.
